Internet & Inawashiro

So, I believe that the most exciting news of the moment is that I now have internet at my apartment!  It took five weeks, but it's here now, and I am a much happier camper.  It also means that I can upload pictures, so I'll be doing some recaps of stuff that already happened.

Part One - Inawashiro Lake, July 16, 2011

This was a "girl's weekend" with myself, another Phenix teacher, and a group of girls who all work for one company a few stations over.  We packed our swimsuits and went to Lake Inawashiro, which is about a 30-40 minute train ride... That is, it's 30-40 minutes if you get on the right train.  We did not, and ended up having to wait an hour at Bandai-Atami station for the next train--which was, indeed, the correct one.

And... View #2 from Bandai-Atami!

Lake Inawashiro

Some weird people...

Our station destination!

The pictures of Lake Inawashiro don't really do it justice; it's one of the largest lakes in Japan (fourth largest, I do believe), and is in a very mountainous area.  It was quite a beautiful location.  And we got off/back on the train at a small station.  There wasn't actually anyone selling or taking tickets, so when we got back to Koriyama, we had to tell man at the ticket gate where we had gotten on and pay for it there.  It was definitely an "inaka" (countryside/hick town) experience, but it was also an extremely welcome break from the concrete buildings of downtown Koriyama.

Next up: The saddest park in all Japan (not really)
